In this video I have explained about sentences and kind of sentences.
What is a sentence?
A group of words that makes complete sense is called as sentence.
A sentence has three parts s+v+o
Sentences are classified into four types
Assertive /declarative, Imperative, Interrogative and Exclamatory.
1. Assertive /declarative:A sentence that makes a statement or declares something are called as declarative/Assertive sentence.
It means a simple sentence or a sentence that declares something
1. An assertive sentence makes a statement.
2. It ends with a full stop(.)
3. An assertive sentence can be positive or negative
For eg. He goes to school.
He eats a banana.
I like to play chess.
English is my favorite subject.
2. Imperative sentence: Sentences that express a command, request, advice, order or suggestion are called imperative sentences.
1.An imperative sentence ends with a full stop(.).
2. It tells us to do something through request, command, order, advice or suggestion.
For eg. Eg. 1.Please bring me a glass of water.
2.Come here.
3.Never lose your patience.
4. Do your homework properly.
3. Interrogative sentences:
A sentence that asks a question is called an interrogative sentence.
1. An interrogative sentence ends
with a question marks (?)
2. It asks something.
3.It begins with words like how,
what, when.
Eg. 1. What are you doing?
2.Can I go?
3.Does he play everday?
4. Where do you work?
4.Exclamatory Sentences:
Sentences that express strong feelings or emotions are called exclamatory
sentences.They end with an exclamation mark.
1. An exclamatory sentence ends with an exclamation mark(!).
2. It usually begins with 'what' or 'how'.
3. It expresses feelings.
Eg. 1.What a beautiful dress it is!
2. How melodious she sings!
3.How beautiful this city is!
4.What a beautiful girl you are!
