Basic grammar rules


Grammar is a set of rules that explain how words are used in a language most of the time , to create phrases and sentences that convey meaning. The study of the classes of words, their inflections, and their functions and relations in a sentence is referred as Grammar. It is the ability to express ourselves in an effective way. An example of grammar is how commas and semicolons are supposed to be used.

1. A sentence begins with a capital letter and closures with a full stop, a question mark or a Exclamatory.  

  1. The big shot sat on the tangle.
  2. My canine is exceptionally smart!

2. Each sentence must have a subject and a verb. A challenge is optional. Note that an essential sentence may have a verb.

      1.The book is in the dower.
      2. The boy runs everyday

3.Basically sentence starts with subject -verb - object

2. Jack went to the market.

4.Adjectives comes before a noun

1. She is a beautiful girl.
2.This is a blue shoes.

5.Phrases are a unit of language and is used all time

1.I like swimming in lakes
2. She must have jumped across the river

John or Mary is coming today around evening time.

7. The words its and it's are two unique words with various implications.

9. Use the indefinite article a/an for countable nouns in general. Use the definite article the for specific countable nouns and all uncountable nouns.

I saw a cow and a buffalo . The cow was white and the buffalo was black

I like the flower in the garden . The mother is going to the school

10. Use the indefinite article a with words beginning with a consonant sound. Use the indefinite article an with words beginning with a vowel sound. 

A book , A cat , A mouse , A pen

An Airplane , an egg , an ink pen , an orange , an umbrella

11. Learn parts of speech 

Noun - Noun is a name of person , place , thing and animals ( Ex- Table , boy , India , Parrot)

Pronoun - a word used instead of a noun( Ex- He , she , It , They , You , I)

Verb - Action words are called verb( Ex-Speak ,Jump, Eat  )

Adjective - Describing noun or a words that qualifies a noun ( Ex- Big, Fat , Black)

Adverb -A word that qualifies another adjective , verb or other adverb or a word group , expressing a relation of place , time , circumstance , manner , cause , degree etc
( Ex- Nicely , Beautifully , Lightly)

Preposition - It shows a position of a noun or a pronoun means a relationship between noun or a pronoun or some other words( Ex-on ,under , over , in , at )

Conjunction - It joins two or more words , phrase or a clause( Ex- as well as ,in order to ,  so that)

Interjection - It shows an emotion( Ex- Wow! ,  Oh! ,  Ouch!)
